James Childress
James is a Senior Merchant for Tower Hill Advisory Services, LLC. He is a seasoned retail specialist with thirty years of in-depth experience including retail operations, retail and fixed asset appraisals, and liquidations. James’s reputation is secured by his determined ability to solve complex issues in a time sensitive manner, providing profitable outcomes for clients in difficult situations.
In 2001, James became a Retail Field Consultant assuming oversight responsibility for groups of liquidating stores. He also served as a Lead Retail Liquidation Consultant, and a Lead Fixed Assets Consultant for numerous assignments throughout North America. James has worked with some of the most widely recognized names in retail including Circuit City, Albertsons, Steve and Barry’s, Gottschalks, Foremost Athletics, Sofa Express, Russ Berrie, Offenbachers, Fly Inc., Canada, and Movie Gallery Canada. His experience combined with a respectful, genial style have made James a frequent project lead for engagements involving privately held and family-owned businesses.
James started his retail career with Roses Stores in 1989. As a store manager for many years, he spent two years of his career at Roses as a “Train the Trainer” where he instructed district level staff in the methods to be untilized for store training of new operational and merchandising objectives. After leaving Roses, James spent the next 6 years in a variety of store management positions with Lowe’s and Service Merchandise.
With his strong resume of retail experience, James plays a key role in conducting due diligence and providing valuations. He has completed engagements for all types of retail and wholesale operations, as well as fixed asset assignments involving manufacturing, logistics, distribution, corporate facilities, and store locations.
James is a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelor of Arts in English.
